Headaches
Headaches are a common condition characterized by pain in the head or face, often described as pressure that’s throbbing, constant, sharp or dull. They can differ greatly in regard to pain type, severity, location and frequency.
Types of Headaches
Primary Headaches:
Not caused by an underlying medical condition, but rather by dysfunction or over-activity of pain-sensitive features in the head. Examples include:

- Migraine Headaches: Intense, throbbing pain, often on one side of the head, accompanied by nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light and sound.
- Cluster Headaches: Severe pain, usually around one eye, accompanied by tearing, redness and nasal congestion.
Secondary Headaches:
Caused by an underlying medical condition, such as:
- Sinusitis: Inflammation of the sinuses.
- Head Injury: Trauma to the head.
- Meningitis: Inflammation of the meninges.
